PTN Electrical is a full-service electrical company. We undertake residential, commercial, industrial and institutional work, including low voltage work, structured cabling (networking) and thermal imaging.
We conduct work as simple as installing a light, receptacle or ceiling fan to the installation of larger projects, like a new kitchen, bathroom, new addition, full house rewire or swimming pool installation. We are continually adapting and evolving our service to be the very best. No matter what the size of the job, every customer deserves the very best.
Dependent on whether your service is overhead or underground, PTN Electrical can perform necessary upgrades, for example, a 60 amp electrical service can be replaced by a new 100 or 200 amp electrical service panel upgrade.
Some examples would include hot tub installations, swimming pool installations including pumps, heaters and sanitation systems. We also undertake electrical installations required for pool sheds and cabanas, outdoor living spaces and patio areas (i.e. kitchens, including refrigeration, lighting and general power). We also install electrical services for new or renovated garages, sheds, workshops and greenhouses.
Home lighting designs for new homes and renovations. This includes pot lights, LED lighting, mood lighting, task lighting, security lighting and motion sensors, and lighting control systems, including Smart technology. These systems are suitable for indoor or outdoor settings, for example landscaped gardens, kitchens, basements, wine cellars etc.
Part of a property’s value is in the maintenance, whether it is the upkeep, the latest upgrade or just general repairs. For peace of mind PTN Electrical can offer an ongoing maintenance service to ensure that your home’s electrical installations are in tiptop condition. We specialize in thermal imaging to aid preventative maintenance (please see our separate section on the benefits of thermal imaging).
For loss of power or electrical repairs, PTN Electrical can offer a range of diagnostic tools to troubleshoot the area of concern with a view to repairing the fault.
PTN Electrical has extensive experience with older and newer homes and will visit your home to determine what upgrades and repairs will be necessary to bring the property up to code. Homeowners will be supplied with an electrical safety inspection certificate issued by the Electrical Safety Authority, ESA (www.esasafe.com) on defects repaired.
Recently the insurance industry has built a requirement into the purchase of newer and older homes. New homeowners are now encouraged to have the home inspected by a licensed electrical contractor to verify that the home is safe with no major wiring defects. This is a service that PTN Electrical offers.
See www.fsco.gov.on.ca/en/insurance/pages/default.aspx for further information regarding insurance coverage issues affecting older homes.
For preventative maintenance, PTN Electrical offers a range of diagnostic tools to troubleshoot any areas of concern with a view to repairing a fault or identify any future electrical problems. We specialize in thermal imaging to aid preventative maintenance, (please see our separate section on the benefits of thermal imaging).
PTN Electrical offers a wide range of solutions to the ever-changing building code requirements for smoke and CO detectors for existing or new dwellings.
It is mandatory in an existing dwelling for a hard-wired or battery-operated smoke detector to be installed on every level of a residential dwelling and for at least one carbon monoxide to be installed too.
Smoke alarms must be changed every ten years and tested monthly. Carbon monoxide detectors must be changed every seven years and also tested monthly. It is recommended that batteries are replaced when the clocks spring forward or fall back.
New construction has a different set of rules involving detection areas, including new strobe technology. Please contact the office for further information.
Whether you are renovating a bathroom, kitchen, basement, laundry room or anywhere with floor tiles, it is worth considering opting for in floor radiant heating. PTN Electrical have been installing this excellent heating system for a number of years, which provides luxurious and comfortable heated floors that are easy on bare feet.
We specialize in our ability to provide a ‘one stop shop’ as we are able to conduct thermal imagining, provide written reports and undertake the required repair work, under strict arc flash health and safety policies. This ability is another reason why PTN Electrical offers more than our competition.
Have you ever wondered how to prevent the buildup of ice in your eaves troughs or ice damning? Heat trace heating systems are a great solution to prevent the damage before it becomes expensive to repair. There are a number of systems that can be considered for different applications, but basically entails the installation of a cable that generates heat to melt ice.
PTN Electrical offers home networking solutions for category 5e or category 6e Ethernet cables, usually required for hard-wiring computers, printers and access points. Access points strengthen your WIFI signal and are increasingly being installed throughout dwellings to enable Smart technology.
We also install telephone, RG6 and HDMI cable solutions for telephones, televisions and home theatre set ups.
A surge protector (or surge suppressor) is an appliance or device designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes, often caused by lightning strikes. A surge protector attempts to limit the voltage supplied to an electric device by either blocking or by shorting to ground any unwanted or stray voltages above a safe threshold. Surges can be particularly damaging to computer systems.
Surge protection devices (SPDs), or transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSSs) are typically installed in power distribution panels, process control systems, communications systems and other heavy-duty industrial systems for the purpose of protecting against power surges. PTN Electrical can offer a range of surge protection devices for residential properties also.
PTN Electrical provides a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week service for emergency situations, with a dedicated, rotated crew available on standby. We undertake work for a number of restoration companies that answer emergency calls for floods, wind, lightning strikes and fires. We also answer emergency calls for residential, commercial, industrial and institutions to minimize disruption to homeowners, businesses or services, and to protect an organization’s bottom line.
